Johnny O’Keefe Tribute
Often referred to by his initials, “JOK”, or by his nickname, “The Wild One”, Johnny O’Keefe was the first Australian rock ‘n roll performer to tour the USA, and the first Australian artist to make the local Top 40 charts. He had 29 Top 40 hits in Australia between 1959 and 1974.
He had his own TV shows on both the ABC and Channel 7 and was a major drawcard for touring performers at the old Sydney Stadium.
He sadly passed away from a heart attack on 6th October, 1978, aged just 43.
