Dusty Springfield Tribute
Born Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O’Brien but known professionally as Dusty Springfield, she was an English pop singer and record producer whose career extended from the late 1950’s until the 1990’s.
She had a distinctive, sensual sond and was an important blue-eyed soul singer and at her peak was one of most successful of British female performers.
Her image, supported by her bouffant hairstyle, evening gowns and heavy make-up made her an icon of the swinging ’60’s.
Sadly, she passed away in March 1999 from breast cancer – with which she had been diagnosed 5 years earlier.
Her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame had been scheduled for 2 weeks after her death.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy some of her musical memories in this tribute.
