Clean up Australia Day in Cumberland

Cumberland Council are inviting the community to join its Clean Up Australia Day event at Duck River in Auburn on Sunday 3 March 2019.
Mayor Greg Cummings said Council is working towards a cleaner, greener Cumberland and is leading the way for the community by hosting two staff and community clean up events.
“We’re not just talking the talk, we’re putting our words into action. Our office based staff will be out in the streets and parks surrounding Council Service Centres cleaning up rubbish,” said Mayor Cummings.
“Our Council street cleaning staff already do a fantastic job picking up litter, clearing paths and cleaning parks, but there is only so much ground they can cover each day. It is all of our responsibility to look after our environment and make Cumberland an inviting place to live, work and visit.
“Getting involved in a clean up event is a really practical way to make an impact in your community. Each piece of rubbish collected has a positive effect on our environment so if you can’t join our clean up event, why not start your own? It’s a great way to get together with neighbours, family and friends and get outside.
“I encourage everyone to get involved where they can. All the details about joining our clean up event or setting up your own can be found on our website Cumberland.nsw.gov.au/cleanupday.”
