Buskers to take over Hills Shire streets this Australia Day

The Hills Shire will come alive with music and art this Australia Day thanks to the NSW Government’s Festival of Place – Summer Fund. 

‘Australia Day Vibes’ is a summery collection of 42 local artists staging 29 performances in locations across The Hills, including Castle Towers, Heritage Park, Norwest Lake, Glenorie Bakery and Grove Square (Stockland Mall) in Baulkham Hills on Tuesday, January 26.  

“We’ve signed-up many talented performers, including classical musicians, pop singers, opera, world music, musical theatre performers and even a visual artist to keep you entertained this Australia Day,” Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said. 

“It’s a great way to celebrate our nation’s day in a COVID-19 safe way, while also supporting local artists and businesses who have been doing it tough during this challenging time.

“I thank the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment for providing the funding to make this initiative happen.

“I encourage you to check out and support these wonderful artists and musicians who are bringing vibrancy and culture to our streets,” Mayor Byrne added.

Artist Samuel Kim will create an art piece live at Heritage Park, using aerosols, while musicians play. 

Mr Kim said he was excited to be a part of the Australia Day Vibes program.

“As an artist and muralist, being a part of the Australia Day Vibes program helps emphasise the importance of creativity and inclusion within the community, which in turn supports the artist’s craft and solidifies the Australian spirit of unity,” Mr Kim added.
