Written by Darryn Capes-Davis on 29 January 2020
2019 City of Parramatta Young Citizen of the Year, Paris Hughes has initiated the #ThankAFirey campaign. Over $3,000 has been raised so far with much of that given by locals of Parramatta attending Australia Day celebrations at Parramatta Park. Over 500 cards of support have been written and Paris hopes that up to 7,000 cards of thanks can be written allowing a personal card of thanks to every Rural Fire volunteer fighting the fires.
You can hear more from Paris who was interviewed on Wednesday Drive with Darryn Capes-Davis.
You can still give via GiveNow and share a card via Instagram. Links below.

Australia would be burnt down if it weren’t for the courageous men and women who fight the fires. They sacrifice their time, money, effort and even lives. All proceeds raised through this campaign will go straight to the Rural Fire Service Association (RFSA) to purchase much needed equipment starting with washing machines. ••• They have done so much for us, now let’s do something for them. It would mean the world to us if you donate now and spread the word by sharing this post.🔥🙏 https://www.givenow.com.au/crowdraiser/public/thankafirey Link also in bio! • • • #australia #australiafires #australiabushfires #bushfiresaustralia #prayforaustralia
