Written by Darryn Capes-Davis on 13 April 2019
Calling all young adults who have a passion for improving youth issues and giving back to their local community!
The Hills Shire Council is searching for passionate individuals to join its Youth Ambassador Program.
If selected, youth ambassadors will participate in community events, speak at Council functions, actively participate and provide directions to The Hills Youth Army, promote youth opportunities within schools and the community, as well as act as a Council representative at relevant events during a 12-month period.
“If you want to make a positive contribution to The Hills, especially when it comes to improving the lives of young people in The Hills, Council’s Youth Ambassador Program is the perfect opportunity,” Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said.
“Youth Ambassadors participate in a range of training opportunities to build their leadership skills and it’s also a great opportunity to be introduced to the world of local government. The group meets regularly to discuss important topics, take part in a variety of youth and community events and much more.
“The program aims to build confidence and is a great opportunity for young people to make a difference,” Mayor Byrne added.
Applicants must be aged between 15 and 24 years and reside in The Hills.
To nominate yourself or someone else, visit www.thehills.nsw.gov.au and search “Youth Ambassador” and complete the online application form.
Nominations close at 5pm on Friday, May 3.
