Shirley Bassey Tribute
Shirley Bassey is a Welsh singer whose career began in the mid-50’s. She’s best known for both her powerful operatic voice and for recording a number of theme songs to the James Bond movies.
In 2000, she was made a Dame for services to the performing arts and in 1977, received the Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist in the previous 25 years.
She made many trips to Australia during the height of her fame – and often appeared at the then famous “Chequers” nightclub in Sydney.
In 2016, she was named as “one of the 50 greatest Welsh people of all time”.
