Don McLean is a renowned singer/songwriter who got his start in the folk clubs of New York during the mid-60’s. He wrote many great songs but is best known for his international smash hit “American Pie” which was written as a tribute to the loss of Buddy Holly, The Big Boppa and Richie Valens in a plane crash on 3rd February 1953. It became known as “The day the music died”.
