New training opportunities for volunteers in The Hills Shire

Written by on 21 February 2020

Hills Shire volunteers can kick start 2020 with fantastic training opportunities available through the Volunteer Training Program.

Hills Shire Council has put together a series of informative and engaging workshops covering a range of interests and areas of expertise.

Areas include cooking classes covering a variety of cultural cuisines, finance basics such as ‘Financial Essentials for Community Groups’ and interpersonal training sessions including ‘Working with People with Disability’ and the ‘Safe Conversations’ workshop, which instructs volunteers on how to manage difficult conversations with people with differing opinions or values.

Mayor of the Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said she is encouraging Hills Shire volunteers to immerse themselves in the program.

“We are so thankful for the wonderful work that our volunteers do and we’re very fortunate to have so many members of our community that are involved in volunteering”, Mayor Byrne said.

“The Volunteer Training Program is a mix of fun activities as well as educational workshops that will help our volunteers upskill and provide valuable support in our community,” Mayor Byrne added.
