Step Up to Clean Up

Clean Up Australia Day registrations are now open.

Local schools, community groups, businesses and friends and families are encouraged to sign-up a team and join one of Australia’s biggest clean-up initiatives.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said she was proud to see so many Hills residents wanting to do their part for the betterment of the environment.

“It’s fantastic to see so many passionate people wanting to get involved in looking after their local community,” Mayor Byrne said.

“I’m confident that together we can all make a difference,” she added.

In 2019, volunteers banded together to clean-up The Hills across 42 Clean Up Australia Day sites.

The first Clean Up Australia Day was held in 1990 and it has since become one of the largest community events held in Australia.

Over the years, volunteers, businesses and schools have donated more than 35 million hours at over 178,000 locations across the country. Together they have removed the equivalent of 365,000 ute loads of rubbish.
